Steps to Jump-Start Your Car

  1. Park Both Vehicles Safely
  2. Position the vehicles so that their batteries are within reach of the jumper cables.
  3. Turn off both vehicles completely, including lights and accessories.
  4. Connect the Jumper Cables
•Red Cable: Connect one red clamp to the positive (+) terminal of the dead battery.
Attach the other red clamp to the positive (+) terminal of the working battery.
    • Black Cable: Connect one black clamp to the negative (-) terminal of the working battery.
Attach the other black clamp to an unpainted metal surface on the car with the dead battery (e.g., a bolt on the engine block). Avoid connecting it to the dead battery.
  5. Start the Working Car
    • Turn on the car with the good battery and let it run for a few minutes. This charges the dead battery.
  6. Start the Dead Car
    • Try starting the car with the dead battery. If it doesn’t start, wait a few more minutes and try again.
  7. Remove the Cables in Reverse Order
    • Disconnect the black cable from the metal surface first.
    • Then remove the black cable from the negative terminal of the working battery.
    • Remove the red cable from the positive terminal of the working battery.
    • Finally, remove the red cable from the positive terminal of the dead battery.
  8. Let the Car Run
    • Let the jump-started car run for at least 15-20 minutes to recharge its battery.

Important Safety Tips

• Ensure the jumper cables do not touch each other while connected to the batteries.
• Never jump-start a frozen or leaking battery; it could explode.
• Always follow the vehicle manufacturer’s guidelines for jump-starting.
